Brenda woke to Jim’s soft moist lips tenderly kissing her shoulders and back, causing her to squirm with pleasure. She could smell the scent of fresh coffee drifting in the air. Even though she knew she couldn’t have a cup and would have to settle for herbal tea she still appreciated the lingering aroma.
“Good morning,” she smiled up at him as she yawned and stretched.
“Good morning,” Jim smiled back, “feel like some breakfast?”
“Oooh yah are you on the menu?” She laughed reaching up pulling him down on
to her.
“If that’s what you want, but with Renee having coffee in the kitchen we should really hurry.”
“Renee is here? Jim why didn’t you tell me?” she said pushing him off her getting up forcing her arms into her robe not bothering with her slippers she hurried out to the kitchen.
“Renee!” she cried hugging him tightly, “It is so good to see you!”
“As it is to see both of you. So, Jim now that she’s up. Are you going to tell me the big news you called me over here to tell me?” he asked as Jim walked up behind Brenda.
“Oh, so you haven’t told him yet?” Brenda smiled at Renee.
“No, I haven’t. I wanted us to tell him together,” replied Jim.
“Tell me what? Come on you two. I am old with little time left. So, wasting it is not an option,” protested Renee.
“Ok, ok we’ll tell you. Want some more coffee?” Jim teased him as he walked over, turning on the tea pot to make Brenda’s tea.”
“Only if it is served with what you have to tell me,” laughed Renee.
“Ok while we were in Hawaii Jonathan, who was Mr. Gordon’s limo driver killed Miss. Shelly who was going to marry Mr. Gordon. Then Brenda and I went on a honeymoon cruise paid for by Brenda’s father right after we were married. Did I forget anything? Oh, yah the baby is due around May or June. And if it’s a girl were going to name her Madison after Brenda’s mother,” Jim concluded with a smile looking down at Brenda.
“Wait, wait, wait, you say someone killed your bosses, girlfriend! Why?”
He asked his eyes wide with wonder.
“We still don’t know why. He also admitted to killing Mrs. Gordon, Brenda’s mother. He’s still in jail in Hawaii as far as we know,” added Jim shrugging his shoulders.
“And with all that going on you two got married! I am glad I am sitting down,” he laughed, “And it turns out you are with child! Awwww that’s wonderful!!And the lab test was true Douglas Gordon is indeed your father and will soon be a grandfather. This is all so wonderful. He paid for you to go on a honeymoon cruise that was nice of him. Oh my god that’s all far too much to take in all at one time,” He said shaking his head in disbelief. “So that means now you know who your parents were. And you’re going to have a child of your own! How wonderful! Congratulation to you both! Come show me pictures of your trip. I know you’re both dying too.”
“We thought you would never ask. I loaded them all on to my PC as a slide show in the order they were taken. Here have another cup of coffee and I’ll set it up.” Jim said refilling his cup. “Honey would you like your tea now?”
“Yah but let me get it while you get the PC hooked up,” Brenda offered taking over the coffee pot pouring the tea pot to heat the water for her tea.
Jim agreed setting up his laptop near the media center causing it to come alive the moment he turned it on. As the pictures flashed across the TV screen. They enjoyed pictures of everything from the night of the luau to the wedding, to the cruise, then on to their secret place.
“Oh my god that is the most beautiful place I have ever seen!” cried Renee as he looked at pictures they had taken at the cove.
“Oh that was where we spent the last week of our honeymoon. It’s was a private residence,” said Jim looking at Brenda. “But we had the place to ourselves. Except for the staff of course.”
“Really! Well it looks like you had a wonderful time!” He said with a twinkle in his eye. “That is so good, but I am glad your back. I sold some of your things and want to mark them off your copy of the inventory list.”
“Oh yes of course. I have the list right over here,” she said getting up walking over to her desk pulling out the papers handing them to him.
“Oh good this will just take me a minute,” he said taking a piece of paper out of his pocket and started matching them both up.
“Well while you do that were going to go in and get dressed. We’ll be right out,” said Jim.
“Take your time my children I‘m not going anywhere,” he smiled not taking his eyes off what he was doing.
As the months passed Brenda and Jim settled into a comfortable routine. She getting back to her classes and him getting back to the book he was writing. Brenda and Doug met regularly for afternoon lunch dates. Spending as much free time as they could going to stage plays, visiting art galleries, and even the Opera a few times. Brenda realizing she enjoyed everything her father was sharing with her, but what she cared about the most was the time they were spending really getting to know each other. When she and Jim stopped by the manor they found everyone with a welcoming smile on their face. Often finding Doug and Jeffery involved in a competitive game of billiards or chess. While Cook, Martha, and Brenda had a standing date every Saturday morning to go shopping and out to lunch. Martha and Cook enjoyed helping Brenda pick out the maternity clothes she needed. As well as helping her stock up on things that would be needed after the baby arrived. The closer the time came to the babies arrival Doug grew more anxious to see his grandchild. He was so looking forward to being a grandfather, he had what was to be he and Shelly’s honeymoon suite transformed into a nursery, which they also stocked with everything the child would need. Brenda trustingly put herself in the care of Dr. Gail Brigum. One of the most saught after OB’s specialists in San Francisco. She was happy to tell Jim and Brenda she and the baby were doing very well. Setting Brenda’s due date for May 1.
“Oh yah and do you want to know the sex?” she asked as they were getting up to leave her office.
“I don’t know. Do we?” Jim asked looking at Brenda.
“Good morning,” she smiled up at him as she yawned and stretched.
