We learn from the postive as well as the negative

May 23, 2016

Sitting at my laptop one evening Back in 2012 I read an advertisement for Tate Publishing. I didn't think anything would come of it so I pushed a button  sending them a copy of one of my books. It wasn't long before I forgot  I even submitted it. A few months passed, then one day UPS droped off a large envlope. As I opened it I was shocked to find it was from Tate Publishing. I was so overwhelmed I quickly handed it to my friend / editor Angela and as tears of shock and joy ran down my face. I listened as she read first the cover letter then went on to the contrack that was also enclosed. This is where any saine person would start doing some research on them and other self-publishers to compare all they offered as well as how much they wanted you to pay, and what percentage your royalites would be. Also what they offered as far as marketing. I did none of this and ended up paying $3,500 more then nessary. What I ended up with was a book filled with mistakes, no pictures, and a lot of wasted time. After a friend read the book she told me about all the...

Some Bumps in the road?

October 19, 2013

Sorry I haven't been keeping you up on all that has been going on.

It's just been too frustrating to even write about.

So I won't even try now

Just know it wasn't good and took all summer!

But it's fixed now and the book has been released

Sept.24th

The book now has it's own Facebook page

and they are about to give me my own Author page Called

Dreamweaver At Home

I think that's what I called it.

It being one of the few thing they asked for my input on.

All they have done has turned out good. Even thro it took 5 months longer then necessary.

It had to be right rather then fast.

So I bit the big one and now it's ending up everywhere on line as well as places like Wall-Mart.

And just in time for Christmas!!!

I learned a lot going through this effort

mostly to be puissant as well as willing to wait.

Even with all the bumps and burn outs

I am still glad I started and finished with

Tate Publishing

They truly do make dreams come alive

June 13, 2013

Well here we are in Marketing.
My book The Winged Warror of the Gods
Is now avalavable at

I am so happy with the out come.
I am having a hard time believing it.
All I am waitting for now is the book to be printed and shiped to me.
I was told I would recieve 10 plus books free.
I already have atleast 7 sold.
This will give me enough to buy hopefuly 100 more copies.
I hope to sell at an on the street book signing
with the help of the San Francisco Art Comission.
This way I will start permoting the book while Tate is setting up  book singing for me at book stores, coffee houses and so on.
For these I won't have to do anything but show up.
This won't be starting until around September.
So in reallity what ever I do on my own
now will give me some experiance.
Well what ever I end up doing
wish me luck.

Moveing from production to marketing

May 18, 2013

It was suppose to be on the shelf by now!
So what's up?
They say life is what happens to us
when we are making other plans.
A year that's what I thought the prosses might take.
But so far it's been three months longer then it needed to be.
Some mistakes are to be atspected.
So far their has been three major mistakes made and not on my end either.  Each of these mistakes coast us a month to correct
and another month to fix.
For me it's been a time of hurry up and wait.
Well this lateest hold up is not only the worst
but it was also the most unessary mistake that could have been made.
I recived the layout for the cover
as well as the layout for the book
with all the final changes I had made.
Soon after that I recived the hard copy of my book to approve.
The final step before going on to print and then marketing.
I was so excited to see my first published book as I opened the package.
I examened the cover loving all I seen.
Then...

Final, Done, Complet, Finished

March 7, 2013

 Cool
Yahoo, Yuppeeee, Super Great, Wahooooo!
We have completed the final task in the publaction of my first book.
Winged Warrior of the Gods
I just pressed the boutton that sent the E-Mail holding the final layout.
Now I wait for the proof to come in the mail then after I send it back.
It goes to Print!
This last part was indeed the hardest and the most exciting.
I got to see what the book was going to really look like with the layout.
The changes I had to make
ONLY TOOK ME THREE DAYS AT TEN HOURS A DAY AND SIX---TEEN HOURS ON THE FOURTH DAY!
I only had 1 week to fix and send it back completed.
I hate the word deadline it tends to make me manic as hell and then I am unable to function.
Funtion I did and so will you
if getting your book published
is what your trying to do.
It took one full year.
Tongue out

Getting Closer- The Cover

February 9, 2013

They say
 "Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover,"
Yesterday I got the E-Mail I had been waitting for.
The sample cover for the book!
They gave me three choices.
The differance being in the choice of Fonts.
I have tacked all three up on the wall, and as I look at Them
I notice how much the letters affect the mood of the cover.

Just A Few More Steps

November 28, 2012

Tongue out Well here we are I can see the top of the stair case. Tongue out
I got the E-Mail yesterday saying we are about to go into the illustrations  stage. Once they have done the drawings. I will only need to approve them and my part in this effort will be completed.
The next step is layout and the last step is printing. Then we start marketing. The rest will be up to you out there buying and enjoying the book. So really if  you think about it YOU out there are going to be the ones who are going to make the difference in me seeing my dream succeed or fail.Telling me if I should go on with the third book or should stop here and just keep writing for fun. No matter what happens I will always be grateful for the chance of having my writing noticed to this point.
You see It would be the thrill of my life to become a "Noted Author". Who wouldn’t be tickled? But for me it's so much more. It’s me getting past all the obstacles I have encountered all my life. It’s me getting off...

We Are Done And Boy Was It Fun

November 18, 2012

Celebrate with me!
I have done it!
It is now more then a scarecrow’s dream.
It is now a reality!
I have reached my goal of turning my
 Disability into an Ability
Tate Publishing sent us the edited copy of my manuscript for us to make any final changes that needed to be done.
This was one of the final steps in the publishing effort.
It also met Angie and I both had to reread the book, bracketing in red anything we wanted deleted, and typing anything we want to add in red.
Other kinds of suggestions and changes were highlighted in a lot of other different colors. Each one met something different (Angie‘s job).
They sent it to us on November 8th and we had to have it done and back to them by the 20th.
Not much time to work with it at all, but luckily they didn’t find too many things that needed to be changed.
So it didn’t take us as long as it could have.
They did say I had a lot of commas that had to be removed. So I have now dubbed myself the comma queen.
The last and only thing I still...

Treasures In The Attic

October 23, 2012

I remember a lot from my classes at Santa Rosa JC.
Everyday I find ways to draw on that knowledge I gained.
I find it exciting watching my grandchildren grow as they go through each stage
I remember studying in my child physiology classes.
I also find it helpful when trying to help my sons
 (who are both single fathers)
learn to be the best parents they can be.
But I have to admit I haven’t done much
else with a lot of other things I learned.
Except of course my writing.
I remember almost everything I wrote in class
good and bad.
I remember what was said to the class,
as well as all the encouragement and advise,
 given to me personally
I remember one day Mr.Surak saying,
(sorry I know I spelled his name wrong)
" Today let's talk about what I call Treasures In The Attic.
You need to look at things you started writing a long time ago,
and then pushed aside cause you got tired of it,
or it just wasn’t flowing for you at the time.
Pull them out and look at them again, with new fresh perspective.
 You never know.
You...

Bitter Sweet Tears Of Joy

October 12, 2012

I love you
and I hate how that makes me feel.
Depression
the word it's self is not plesent to the eye,
and the sound of the word brings vissions of
darkness, dispair, distrust, unforgivness,hopelesness,
it is all negtive.
Ok lets be silly for amoment
Just look at the word
Depression
if you notice the whole word is contained,
holding is't self tightly togather not willing to let anything in,
also unlike other words it only has two letters it has a proublem controling.
As you can see they are the p and ofcorse the i.
The p is always trying to reach out to other words and letter below
and part of the i has completly seprated it's self from the rest of the word
as if it has plans to join in some where else on the page.
Wow this sounds rather bipoler!
When you look at other words that can mean the opposite such as
giggle, joyful, or even silly
each are plesent to look at they are postive and bring vissions of welbeing to mind.
Well just look at the letters that make up the word.
The g's alone are filled with mischif.
They reach down...
